Health & Safety Policy

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) recognises the importance of maintaining a healthy, safe, and sustainable environment for its students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the community. This HSE policy outlines the measures the university will take to prevent and control hazards that may cause injury, illness, or harm to the environment.

Commitment 

This HSE policy demonstrates the university's commitment to ensuring a safe, healthy, and sustainable environment for all. 
 

Scope 

This policy applies to all members of the SUAD community, including students, staff, stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and associated support services. 
 

To achieve this, SUAD shall: 

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify hazards and evaluate the associated risks. The risk assessment will cover all activities and operations that take place on campus, including teaching, research, facilities management, and student’s activities. 

  • Prevent accidents, injuries, and illnesses. 

  • Providing a safe and healthy working and learning environments for all. 

  • Ensuring that equipment, facilities, and buildings are designed, installed, and maintained to the highest HSE standards. 

  • Providing HSE training, information, and supervision to all faculty, staff, and students. 

  • Conducting regular HSE audits and inspections to identify hazards and improve HSE performance. 

  • Have emergency response procedures in place to minimise the impact of emergencies and ensure that appropriate actions are taken to protect people, property, and the environment. 

  • Communicate HSE information to all faculty, staff, and students through various channels, including notice boards, emails, and training sessions. 

  • Investigate all incidents to identify the root cause, prevent recurrence, and continuously improve the HSE performance of the university. 

  • Continuously monitor and review its HSE performance to ensure that it is meeting its objectives and complying with legal requirements. 


Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) management requires the active commitment to and accountability for Health and Safety from all stakeholders. Line management has a leadership role in its communication and implementation, while also ensuring compliance.
