Student Council

The Student Council at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi serves as the official voice of the student body, providing a shared platform for dialogue, collaboration, and engagement between students and the university. Working closely with the Student Events & Culture Section, the council plays a key role in fostering a strong sense of community, mutual understanding, and campus harmony. 

By organising a wide range of extracurricular activities and student-led events, the Student Council empowers students to take initiative, express their ideas, and contribute actively to campus life. Through these experiences, students also gain valuable life skills, leadership experience, and a deeper connection to the university community. 

The council consists of 15 elected student representatives, as follows:  

• President: Oversees the overall direction of the council, represents the student body in official meetings, and acts as the main liaison between students and the university administration.  
• Vice President: Supports the president in carrying out duties and assumes leadership in their absence, while also coordinating internal operations and initiatives within the council.  
• Sport Officer: Organises sports activities and teams, and schedule tournament and competitions to develop students’ skills in various sports. 
• Cultural Officer: Organises cultural activities to improve students' creativity and provide them with opportunities for artistic expression. These events include workshops, performances, and collaborative projects aimed at enhancing their skills and abilities. 
• Two Public Relations and Communication Officers: Promote student initiatives and enhance student capacity in advertising and marketing. Organise the student newsletter and provide media coverage for all events organised by the Student Council and student clubs. 
• Environment Officer: Raises student awareness about the environment and climate change issues and engage students in different environmental initiatives in the UAE and abroad.  
• Recreation and Social Officer: Organises a variety of recreational and social events, such as social gatherings and trips. Also, promotes student engagement by developing strategies to increase participation and by collaborating with student organisations.  
• Scientific and Technology Officer: Enhances student interests in technology and science, innovation by organising conferences, seminars and workshops. 
• Administrative & Finance Officer: Coordinates meeting, correspondence, minutes of meeting, and keep the SC filing record. Moreover, work with the SC President to prepare the budget plan for SC events and the expenditure reports. 
• Two Clubs Coordinators: Coordinate with student clubs and follow up with them regarding the execution of the clubs’ annual plan.  
• 2 SDGs Officers: Raise awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among students through targeted campaigns and educational initiatives. Additionally, collaborate with various student groups and organisations to integrate SDG-focused activities into university life.  
• Inclusion and Diversity Officer: Develops and implements initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion within the university community. Moreover, works closely with the Student Council and various student clubs to create programmes that celebrate diverse backgrounds and foster an inclusive environment.
