Biographie
Laura Meyer serves as the Stakeholder Coordination Officer for the United National Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development at the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO. In this role, she acts as the focal point for National Decade Committees, Decade Collaborative Centers, Decade Coordination Offices and Decade Implementing Partners. As an enthusiastic sailor, Laura has successfully blended her academic expertise with her passion for the ocean. She holds a law degree from the University of Hamburg and an LLM in Public International Law from Utrecht University, specialized in International Law of the Sea and International Environmental Law. She is an elected member of the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society’s Administrative Committee for the 2025-2027 term. Additionally, she is an active volunteer in the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL). Fluent in German, Dutch, English, and Spanish, and knowledge of French, she aims to use her linguistic skills and legal knowledge to advocate for sustainable ocean practices and environmental responsibility through intercultural and interdisciplinary collaboration.
