Abu Dhabi, UAE, 12 September 2026 – Radio France featured Olivier Adam, Researcher and Professor at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, alongside Laure Bonnaud Ponticelli, Professor at the MNHN and cephalopod specialist, and Pénélope Bagieu, illustrator and comic book author, to discuss the anatomical, communicative, and cognitive mechanisms of two very different ocean species.
The podcast explores how these species, despite radically different evolutionary paths, have developed remarkable adaptations to the constraints of the marine environment: an armored respiratory system built to withstand deep-sea pressure, a boneless flexibility that allows movement through tiny gaps, and strikingly different modes of communication — from structured vocal songs to color- and texture-shifting skin.
