Every Friday evening, the Mesnard family gathers at Le Père Tranquille, the bistro run by Henri.
On this particular evening, they are celebrating the birthday of Yolande, the daughter-in-law, together with her husband Philippe, his younger sister Betty, and their mother. Denis, the café waiter, finds himself reluctantly drawn into this family gathering, where unspoken tensions soon take a seat at the table.
As the evening unfolds, resentments, frustrations, and little secrets begin to resurface. Beneath the comedy lies a tender, funny, and at times biting portrayal of family relationships, caught between love, hypocrisy, and misunderstandings.
Un air de famille remains strikingly relevant today. Behind the laughter and witty exchanges are experiences every family can relate to: love, emotional wounds, and the universal need to find one’s place among those closest to us.
