The health of the sea is one of humanity's greatest challenges, and protecting it starts with measuring it. IEEE MetroSea brings together researchers and engineers developing instrumentation and measurement methods for the marine environment, from sensors and calibration to environmental monitoring technologies.
Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi was proud to be one of the Patrons of IEEE MetroSea 2026, where Dr Giulia DeMasi co-organized the special session "Marine Robotics for Environmental Monitoring and Preservation", which hosted 8 papers on how robotic systems can help us observe, understand and protect ocean ecosystems.
In this session, SUAD PhD student Adrian Navarro presented the paper "Collaborative AI Agents for the Generation and Verification of Control Software for Marine Robotics", co-authored with BSc student Vahagn Grigoryan and under the supervision of Dr. Giulia De Masi. The work explores how teams of AI agents can write and verify the control software that marine robots rely on, making their development faster and more reliable.
A great example of SUAD students, from Bachelor to PhD level, contributing to research for a more sustainable ocean.
