Bio
Dr. Liah Shonhe is a distinguished Records and Information Management Professional and academic. She holds a Ph.D. in Information Management and E-Governance from Dalian University of Technology, China (2025), which builds upon her foundational qualifications: a Master's degree in Archives and Records Management (2017) and a Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Studies (2013), both earned from the University of Botswana. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Research Department (SAFIR) and a Lecturer in the History Department.
She is a prolific scholar with an h-index of 9, authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious international journals such as Aslib Journal of Information Management, AI & Society, and The Journal of Academic Librarianship. An experienced educator, she has shaped future professionals through her current lecturing and previous roles at the Institute of Development Management (IDM) and the University of Botswana (UB). Dr. Shonhe is deeply embedded in her professional community, actively contributing as an associate editor and peer reviewer for leading journals. She holds significant memberships in key organizations, including the International Council on Archives (ICA), the East and Southern Africa Regional Branch of the ICA (ESARBICA), and the Botswana Library Association (BLA). Her leadership was demonstrated through her role as Chairperson of the Records and Information Association in Botswana (RIAB). Committed to social change, she is also a passionate activist in the fight against child marriage and an advocate for girls' education.
