Dr. Stéphane Desruelles research, developed in the field of geoarchaeology, focuses on the interactions between hydrological dynamics (marine and continental) and human settlement. It aims to better understand how human societies have in the past (i) managed the water resources and their variations, (ii) adapted to the evolution of the hydrosystem and / or the shoreline (related to sea level changes).

These studies are carried out within the framework of programs supported by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco), the French School at Athens (Cyprus) or local institutions in France. They are performed in partnership with French or foreign archaeological teams (Moroccan, American, Japanese, Italian). They have allowed me to create an already-proven partnership network, consisting of archaeological missions, French and foreign universities and laboratories, and expertise from researchers from various scientific disciplines.
