Description
This talk will delve intro the details of the excavations carried out since 2013 by the Franco-Bangladeshi archaeological mission at Mahasthangarh, a former urban centre in Bengal. As part of the longest-standing cultural cooperation between France and Bangladesh, the site has undergone several phases of excavation. The most recent phase (2022-2025) focuses on the SEB sector, with scientific objectives that include reconstructing occupation patterns analysing the relationship between religious and secular spaces, and refining chronological frameworks. Additionally, Bangladeshi archaeologists received training at LMC14, contributing to the continued professionalisation of the excavation efforts.
