Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi University launches “Certificate in UAE Law”

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi announced the launch of a new programme titled "Certificate in UAE Law" within the Continuing Education Center (CEC), as part of the university’s keenness to provide specialised programmes that enable and develop the skills of students and enhance their professional prospects. The university has developed this programme entirely in Arabic for master or bachelor degree holders in law. This certificate opens the doors for graduates to employment opportunities in the private and public sectors including Law firms, Judicial courts, Federal and semi-federal entities dealing with the UAE judicial system, and all businesses dealing with UAE laws. In this regard, Professor Silvia Serrano, Vice-Chancellor, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, noted: “We aim to contribute to students' skill development by launching new programmes based on the market needs, that would also provide employees highly skilled calibers that have the knowledge, and ability to keep up with the accelerating global changes and evolving market dynamics.” Dr Maïa-Oumeïma Hamrouni, Head of Programme, Associate Professor of Law, at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi said: “During the study period, students will have the opportunity to address theoretical topics related to UAE law, including the History of the UAE, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Family Law and Sharia, Commercial Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Civil Law, as well as to apply practical practices that qualify Emirati students to pursue successful careers as judges, solicitors, barristers, commercial lawyers, civil servants or advisors and professionals to pursue successful careers and enabling Arabic speakers to acquire specialised skills in the field.” The Certificate in UAE Law at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi runs for 5 months between February and July and is taught in Arabic by academics and legal practitioners. The programme is designed to meet the current market needs. All programmes are prepared in collaboration with the academic teams in Paris in order to meet the standards of excellence offered by Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. The Continuing Education Center of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi offers specialised programmes that are designed for individuals and entities to enhance professional development and career growth.
